Guitar Legends Hall – Europe’s First Rock Star Guitar Museum Opens in Barcelona – 05/28/2024

A 1,500 m2 palace will exhibit a curated collection of over 50 guitars from Metallica, Dire Straits, Queen, and Bon Jovi, among others. Music lovers know well that the passage of time and the touristification of Barcelona have emptied the surroundings of Tallers Street and La Rambla of music stores. Specialized record shops and musical instrument stores have succumbed to the pressure of fast fashion, mobile phone case stores, and even, gulp, chicken rotisseries. That’s why the imminent opening of the Guitar Legends Hall, a museum that aims to explain the history of rock through an impressive collection of over 50 electric guitars played by rock legends like Kiss, Queen, Metallica, or Aerosmith, is so significant. The facility – which will open to the public on June 7th, with tickets already on sale – is as impressive as the collection it houses: located on Portaferrissa Street, 16, it is a 1,500 m² space divided into eight thematic areas. The driving force behind this unique museum – the only one of its kind in Europe – is guitar collector Juan José Castellano. “Our intention is not just to display a collection of famous musicians’ guitars, but to explain the history of rock through the evolution of the electric guitar,” explains Castellano.
